I just read an interesting article, “Grow-Hire Report” By Scott Leibs, in the March edition of Inc. magazine about companies who expanded and grew even during the recession.  There were several factors that caught my attention in this article that I could relate to network marketing.

The first factor that caught my eye was this paragraph:  “The only significant predictor of a company’s future success is steady growth; short- and even long-term bursts mean almost nothing. ‘It’s akin to Aesop’s tortoise and hare story,’ Gary Kunkle, Inc.’s economist-in-residence and consultant says. ‘Slow and steady wins the race.’” This is the same principle that we are taught at Mentoring For Free.  If we invest our time in people skills and relationships, our business may build more slowly but will be more lasting.

Out of five commonalities that growing companies had, two of them directly related to network marketing.  The first was, “More than 50 percent of respondents said ‘people/talent’ and ‘customer service’ were the only drivers of competitive advantage and identified those attributes as core to their company’s identity.”  Another words, people skills and relationship building gave them their edge over competitors.

The other commonality was, “More than 82 percent of respondents said, ‘sharing financial success with your employees’ helps a company grow.” In network marketing and Mentoring For Free that is what we believe in doing.  Zig Ziglar said, “If you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want.” It’s not all about us and what we can get. But it’s about mentoring and helping others.  That is how success comes.

The bottom line is; it is all about teamwork and people skills, not finances or “product attributes”.
